3 Smoothie Bowl Recipes That Will Make You Glow (In a Good Way)

by - April 02, 2017

If you follow me on Instagram you'll know I love smoothie bowls! They're colourful, nutritious, and even though they taste like dessert, you can eat them for breakfast!

So today I'm sharing my love for smoothie bowls with three wholesome and delicious recipes. These recipes are full of vitamins, healthy fats, and antioxidants (AKA they'll help you look and feel amazing!).

So grab a blender, and lets get started:

1. Green Machine

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 a frozen banana
  • 1/2 C frozen avocado
  • 5 chunks frozen pineapple
  • 2 chunks frozen mango
  • 1 large kale leaf (destemmed)
  • 1 1/2 C coconut water
Toppings:
  • hemp hearts
  • green apple
  • banana slices
  • coconut granola

Instructions:

  1. Blend all ingredients (minus toppings) in a blender or food processor, placing kale closest to the blades to help get a smooth texture.
  2. Once smooth, pour the mixture into a bowl.
  3. Chop fruit toppings and place ontop of the smoothie bowl, alongside granola and hemp hearts.
  4. Eat! :)

2. Strawberry Raw-berry

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 C frozen strawberries
  • 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 C mylk/liquid of choice (if raw be mindful of this)
Toppings:
  • rawnola (oats, dates, flax seeds, chia seeds, and sunflower seeds processed into a crumble)
  • strawberries (kiwi is also amazing in this recipe!)
  • dash of cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare rawnola by mixing 1/4 cup oats, 4 dates, and a sprinkle of flax and/or chia seeds in a food processor. Process until the mixture reaches a crumbly texture. Mix in 1/4 cup sunflower seeds until combined. Set aside.
  2. In a blender (or separate food processor) mix the frozen banana, strawberries, and liquid of your choice (I used almond milk... as usual) until smooth.
  3. Pour the smoothie mixture into a bowl.
  4. Top with rawnola, fruit, and a dash of cinnamon.
  5. Enjoy!

3. Açai

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 1 1/2 C frozen mixed berries (I used blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries)
  • 1 1/4 C mylk (can substitute with apple juice, or acai juice if not using powder)
  • 1 tbsp acai powder
Toppings:
Nuts/seeds, fruit, and granola of your choice! + Optional honey drizzle. (I used chia seeds, shredded coconut, kiwi fruit, strawberries, and coconut almond granola for the bowl in the photo!)

Instructions:

  1. Blend all ingredients in a blender or food processor.
  2. Pour/scoop into a bowl.
  3. Get creative with toppings.
  4. Dig in! :)

I hope you guys love these smoothie bowls as much as I do. Decorating is always the best part, so be sure to get creative, and feel free to tag me in your smoothie bowl posts on insta!
